Super Albino Llama: Llamas are awesome! (105)

Nearly there!

That is, I'm very nearly set up in Japan. Moving in and making the place a home has been a big effort but it's close now! While I've not stopped entirely drawing, it's been sparse--a couple of sketches at Amsterdam airport, and some work on the next actual picture--but hopefully it won't be at all long till it's enough that it's not be taking up so much time.

Finally everything's packed and ready, and I'm leaving for Japan for quite a while (aside from popping back for Christmas). I have a few ideas about bringing it into my art and also want to really drive at it a bit. Hopefully, it should mean some interesting content aside from my usual stuff. Alright! Artwards ho〜!

Doing a fair whack of experimenting with tools (Painter 2016 is pretty cool but a lot of brush changes!) so the hours don't translate into things that would be especially interesting to see, and certainly not something in the range of 10s of hours an...

Long time since you posted and 10 weeks at this time since you last visited.  Hope all is well.  Getting any artwork done?  Maybe posting somewhere else?  Touch base when you can.  Until then, stay safe.
Hey! Yeah, I've not been on in a long time, and not gotten any artwork done in a lot longer, so thank you for taking the time to check in especially when I've been vanished for so long. And likewise, stay safe, things are crazy and this year's not even halfway over!
My gosh - how do you keep the gears oiled?
haha.  Yes.  And we have several years to go.  Maybe "all this" will help put life in perspective?  For example, "What would you do if you had all the time in the world?  Are you doing it, now?  If not, why not?"  Or maybe the other way to say it might be better - "What would you do if you had a year or two . . . ?"  I find it odd that, either way, artwork plays a small part for me.  While Art serves an analogical system that is native to the way I think and experience, doing artwork has lost its appeal.  And, yet, because it has lost appeal, I do a little daily exercise just for mental discipline.  LOL.  Go figure.

The way is now, always now, only now. (Make the most of it  )
ko nichi wa, O hi o, Osu, Mushi-mushi! (have to do it phonetically - hope it translates.)  Bottom line, how's it going in Japan?  Are you getting in ANY practice?  :D
Haha! I get the message :) オス! to you too.

It's going okay. Took longer than anticipated to get the place here all set up and home-y, but we managed it in the end. Money is tight and doing the job-hunting thing after just getting over a nasty flu, and yeah, not getting close to the practice I want! Managed a couple of things, one paid drawing (a very cute baby, but keep forgetting to ask permission so haven't posted it online), some super quick pencil sketches and a half finished drawing of William Howard Taft. I must say, using a physical pencil and pad and being able to measure that way while looking at an actual subject felt like such a rare treat after only digital for so long.

It's as inspiring/daunting as ever to see your continued prolific output! :D Come the weekend I'm gonna have to pour over some, and get back into the swing of things a bit more. Who'da thunk just starting up a life in another country would be so time-consuming?! :')
Job hunting?  Good grief!  I thought you had a job lined up.  So you just jumped into another country hoping to land a job?  Dude!  That's self-confidence - or religion. LOL.  Good luck, then.  Practice is the least of your concerns.  Of course, you could make it an experience in zen.  Just go to a park (preferably a corporate park) and focus on your art.  Maybe one thing leads to another and you find yourself in the company of spiritually sensitive business men looking to hire someone with your qualifications. . . .  so, of course, you'd just happen to have some resumes in your satchel with the art supplies.  If all else fails, tell 'em Sundog sent you. (Who knows, maybe he did.  He's been shuffled me around years before I caught on.  LOL.)

Wow.  This is much more of an adventure than I at first imagined.  I'm excited for you, David.  I hope you can make the most of it, now that I know what's involved.

My prolific output - that's just me being unconscious.  When my stats spike I freeze.  So, this time I decided to post whatever I'm doing, good or bad.  On occasion that means a page of daily gesture exercises - which is scraping the bottom of the barrel.  But it keeps it real, if you know what I mean.

Hey, post photos, if it comes to that.  Start a sub-folder for "Japan".

nice gallery!
